Melanie is a parent, volunteer, staff member and stable hand here at Todd Hill. She began riding at the age of 12 at the Highland Riding Club - a facility where everyone was responsible for caring for their own horse. She was fortuinate to have a variety of horses to learn from - from Quarter Horses to retired Standarbred race horses fresh off the track. Mel took lessons with Herb Best (Krymsum Farm) in New Glasgow and attended lots of local exhibitions and clinics in western pleasure and reining.
Mel stopped riding when she started her family, but since Todd Hill Farm is just down the road from where she lives, it wasn't long before horses got back into her blood! She is now part of the family!
Mel works Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays and is responsible for all aspects of stable management from scheduling farrier visits to treating injuries, organizing tack and keeping the place running smoothly.
